channelAustin promotes the creative power and First Amendment right to free speech for all members of the Austin community who wish to access the television and multi media forums. channelAustin believes that freedom of expression should be available to all members of the Austin community regardless of disability or ability, on a fair and equitable basis that is non-discriminatory, non-commercial, non-exclusive, and content neutral.

The mission of channelAustin is to provide the means for community dialogue through media technology. The core programs in support of our mission include comprehensive television equipment and resource training, Kids Make TV Camps, Web 2.0 for video blogging and podcasts, EXSE Music and EXSE Spoken Word, our neighborhood news project called ATX Edition, Austin Commons for non-profits, partnerships with VSA Arts of Texas, YMCA, and Leadership Enrichment Arts Program ( LEAP ), as well as Thunderboom TV at McCallum High School.
