Channel 8 Television went live in Unalaska in 1976, as a service of the local school district.  The license was later transferred to the non-profit organization Unalaska Community Broadcasting, incorporated in 1984.  Since then, we’ve aired a live weekly program every Wednesday.  Starting in 1988, the weekly show has been called Flash! Unalaska.  The program features a pre-taped local news clip, followed by a half hour program hosted by volunteers.

Additionally, Channel 8 films and edits long versions of community events, produces short documentaries about our community and our region, and airs few live local game shows each year.  Channel 8 also works extensively with volunteers, giving them access the resources for production of short video pieces, which we air locally.

We are the ONLY local television station in our community of 4,000 people.   Unalaska Community Broadcasting also owns the only local radio station, KUCB 89.7 FM.
